YTE Humidity Control in Aviation

Effective humidity control and moisture removal is essential in protecting both the overall aircraft and its individual components within the aviation industry.

The applications for humidity control are wide-ranging and include dew point and relative humidity control. To avoid corrosion, spoilage and breakdowns during production, storage and operation of the aircraft, a relative humidity of 40% is recommended. In other contexts, it may be crucial to control the dew point to prevent corrosion resulting from condensation.

This industry faces several challenges, including preventing condensation in avionics, transporting parts in

self-contained and controlled environments, safeguarding historical

artefacts or aircraft in hangers, and producing

fighter jet canopies.

In 2018, a major aircraft manufacturer sought our assistance with issues related to their current process of coating parts for transportation. This method was not only costly in terms of labour and time required for coating and removal, but it also posed environmental challenges. Legislative changes made it impossible to continue using this process.

We have created a novel transportation system capable of maintaining controlled and conditioned environments within a vehicle that exceeds 30 m in length. The system effectively regulates temperature and humidity to specific set points despite the difficult challenge of powering a moving vehicle.

The system effectively regulates temperature and humidity to specific set points despite the difficult challenge of powering a moving vehicle. Furthermore, it integrates cutting-edge in-house controls. This incorporates data logging, Ethernet and wireless connections, as well as an application to monitor the environmental conditions during the entire transportation process, ensuring complete traceability for the components’ lifespan. Furthermore, the transportation vehicle can even examine adjacent spaces to guarantee that the components can be safely removed upon arrival.

By utilising dew point/RH control and non-contact temperature probes, condensation prevention is certain.

It's astonishing to contemplate that dehum dry air systems assume such a pivotal function in sustaining the operation of the most prodigious and swiftest aircraft globally.

Regardless of whether your application entails particular needs or you are encountering difficulties in your procedures, YTE can aid you. Please visit our Airbus case study for further information.
